Ah, the internet. It has brought us many great things. But then there's the corner with cat videos, funny cooking recipes and influencers who, tanned and white toothed, tell us about their "miracle cures" for becoming "better and smarter".
Wait a minute, what are you thinking? Isn't that what this text is supposed to be about? No. And yes. Because even if we honestly don't like the whimsical blossoms of self-optimisation in the style of Instagram starlets and biohackers too much, we fundamentally strive for a good, healthy and balanced life. Keyword: self-efficacy. This psychological concept is based on the assumption that we can, should and must trust in ourselves and that this fact is a positive driving force for our everyday lives. So. And now we'll finally tell you why it's always a good idea to treat yourself to a few days' holiday with us in a completely self-efficacious way.
Stay in balance: Enjoyment and exercise in the Eisack Valley
Basically, it doesn't matter whether you see your body as a temple or as a constant construction site: here with us in South Tyrol, it gets what it wants: the right amount of everything. And that's what we mean: too much of a good thing, be it sporting exercise or culinary indulgence, is simply not beneficial in the long run. But since there is no lack of opportunities to be active or of culinary temptations around our hotel in the Neustift vineyards, tension and relaxation, energy consumption and energy intake almost balance themselves out. We have been leaving our fitness trackers in the drawer for some time now. Because when your gut gets a chance, it has a lot to say.
Nourishment for the nerves and food for the mind: Off to the monastery!
Never going back to school? Not a nice idea for us! But don't worry, modern adult education has nothing to do with bad-tempered professors and grade pressure, but rather with curiosity and a hunger for life. We are incredibly lucky to live right next to a true fountain of knowledge: Neustift Monastery, known far beyond South Tyrol's borders for its first-class seminars, workshops, training courses and courses. From art and healing to sports and culinary arts to management, sustainability and philosophy, the thematic arc of the educational house spans. We are ardent supporters of a "hybrid holiday": Why not simply combine further education with a few relaxing days? Or give the mind something new during the well-deserved holidays?
Microadventure and variety: between city and countryside
There is some truth in the old saying about resting and rusting: to stay mentally fit and physically healthy (and look it), an occasional burst of courage is quite good. Even if routines in everyday life provide stability and structure, people need to think outside the box from time to time. In other words: holidays can be a time when you leave familiar paths behind. With new, fresh impressions, a breath of fresh air comes into your brain and makes room for new ideas. How good that Brixen and the Eisack Valley are so wonderfully versatile. Come here for hiking, or discover the most beautiful corners of the town here, go shopping here and everything revolves around our wine here. One more thing: our guests always say that they are struck by a flash of inspiration or kissed by the muse here with us. So the area around our house seems to be quite inspiring. Just give it a try!
Are you team "higherfasterfurtherbetter" or team "I-am-like-me"? What do you think about the trend and the urge for self-optimisation? Tell us about it!
